4. In the popped out Field dialog box, do the following operations:
- (1.) Select Links and References from the Categories drop down list;
- (2.) In the Field names list box, please choose StyleRef option;
- (3.) And then, find and select Heading 1 which is your chapter style you created from the Style name list box.
5. After finishing the settings, please click OK button, and now, the chapter title has been inserted into the header or footer, see screenshot:

I went in to edit the document later, and some of the references to the “Heading 1” style on the page only showed the first letter of the text. If I double clicked on the reference in the footer, it would show the full test, but as soon as I clicked away from the reference, it would go back to showing only the first letter. Still haven’t figured it out.
